Health-e-space aims to empower you through:
Allowing us to make e-health, real health. The development of the site will always be a work in progress so if we are not meeting your needs let us know either through the contact us option or by filling in the feedback survey!
Self care is part of daily living, and includes looking after ourselves and those around us such as family, friends and other people in the local community.
People are often experts in their own self care, but some people need a little more advice, information and reassurance to be totally confident in taking responsibility for their own health.
The self-caring approach aims to support you by pulling together all the available resources in your local community and making them easily accessible to you. This approach has been shown to improve health both mentally and physically. It can also improve your quality of life, increase your self confidence and also allow you to gain more control of your life.
Health-e-space.com will help you access this information and support which best suits you. Local services and resources will be tailored to meet your specific needs.
Through clinician blogging (Visit the Clinic) we hope to be able to make your GP and hospital consultations not only more efficient but also more worthwhile. We aim to give you information that you will use to prompt your GP to ensure that all the tests and investigations are performed prior to your hospital appointment. Also we will provide information that you may find helpful.
Through community health-e-space (a social networking platform) we hope that you will set up patient participation forums and start your own individual profiles where information about living with health can be discussed. As you are the expert in managing your condition, sharing that knowledge and experience with others will in turn empower and benefit those in similar circumstances. This ‘Wisdom of the Crowd’ will therefore have beneficial effects not only on those who share similar problems but also on delivery of healthcare in the wider community.
Health-e-space comes under the umbrella of the Moray Digital Health Initiative founded in 3/3/08, the anniversary of Sir Alexander Graham Bell's birthday. There is evidence that Sir Alexander Graham Bell conceived of the idea of the telephone while being a Tutor and Assistant Master of Elocution and Music at Weston House1 Academy, now the home of Comet store.
