Getting picked up from hospital after your operation Please make sure someone is available to collect you after your operation. If you have had a General Anaesthetic:
Alternatively, if you require the hospital to arrange transport for you please tell the nurse on admission, this will be arranged free of charge. Home care Services If you feel that you will need help at home on discharge from the hospital, please let the nurse know so that you can be assessed by the Home Care Manager. The Home Care Manager will come and see you and together you will decide just what is needed and for how long. She will also discuss with you whether or not there will be any cost for this service. District Nurses If you require post operative wound care or catheter care then we will arrange for the district nurse to visit you at home Discharge Lounge On the day of your discharge and once all your arrangements have been made you will be transferred from Ward 5 to the discharge lounge where you will be collected by your family or hospital transport. The discharge lounge is near ward 7. What do I do if I have any problems once I am home? If you have any problems within the first 24 hours since discharge from hospital then you should phone the Gynaecology Ward i.e. Ward 5 for further advice 01343 576280. If problems occur after 24 hours then contact your G.P. |
