Security
Ward security The ward is locked at all times. This is for your baby’s safety as well as your own. Every visitor must ring the buzzer to enter ward 3. You must let the staff know if you are leaving the ward for any reason.
Baby security All babies have 2 name bands on their ankles which are attached at delivery. These are checked on a daily basis. |

Portable phones

The use of mobile phones is only allowed in designated areas. There is a portable phone which can be used in your labour room following delivery and in the post natal ward. It does not receive incoming calls. Be sure to bring plenty of small change.
Infection Control

In Dr Gray’s we are try to maintain high levels of cleanliness to reduce infection. You can help us do this by making sure you wash your hands using the alcohol gel dispensers that can be found outside all wards. You should use the gel each time you enter and leave the department and follow the instructions above. Together we can fight infection!
Unit statistics Statistics must always be interpreted with caution. The numbers presented below will give you a flavour of the Unit’s practice. The figures have been obtained from data from 2001-2006 inclusive.
A 95% CI (confidence interval) means that there is a 95% chance that the value lies between the 2 numbers in the brackets. E.g. there is a 95% chance that the overall caesarean section rate is between 15% and 17% with 16% being the summary statistic. Below are the figures for the whole of Scotland from 2005. Emergency Caesarean Section 15.4% Elective Caesarean Section 9.5% Induction of labour 24.1%
Below is a summary of all deliveries in Dr Grays Hospital.
