If you are a patient, the direct dial number is 01343567280. You are advised to contact the ward on your day of admission at 08.30.to confirm that a bed is available for you. Even although you have been given a date for admission and date of operation it is possible that due to unforeseen emergencies a bed may not be available. If a bed is not available at the time you phone we will contact you later that morning with an update If you are a relative, the direct dial number is 01343567280. It helps us to spend more time with patients if you can elect one member of your family to phone for an update on your condition/operation and then they can inform the rest of the family. We understand that this may not always be appropriate. No details will be given out over the phone about your diagnosis or treatments
Visiting times for Ward 5 are as follows:
Alternative visiting times may be arranged in some circumstances. If alternative visiting times are required please discuss with the ward manager. Please remember that patients need to rest and visiting times can be tiring for patients. Please do not sit on the bed because beds can harbour bacteria which can cause infection. Each time you sit on a patient’s bed you are potentially transferring hundreds of bacteria which could then cause infection in the person you are coming to visit.
Medical and Insurance Certificates If you require a medical certificate for your work - please ask your nurse looking after you. You will be provided with a certificate on your discharge from hospital to cover the time you spent in hospital. You will need your GP to provide another certificate for any further time you require off work. Please give any medical insurance forms to the staff who will get them signed by the relevant person and stamped with the hospital stamp. On some occasions a small charge may be made for this. Portable phones ![]() The use of mobile phones is only allowed in designated areas. There is a portable phone which can be used in your labour room following delivery and in the post natal ward. It does not receive incoming calls. Be sure to bring plenty of small change. Infection Control ![]() In Dr Gray’s we are try to maintain high levels of cleanliness to reduce infection. You can help us do this by making sure you wash your hands using the alcohol gel dispensers that can be found outside all wards. You should use the gel each time you enter and leave the department and follow the instructions above. Together we can fight infection! |
