A patient information centre has opened at Dufftown Health Centre. The facility will give people access to free health information via both leaflets and the free Healthline telephone number - 0500 20 20 30.
It's part of the Well North project - a pilot scheme to improve the health of people experiencing health inequalities in remote and rural areas of the North of Scotland. It has a particular focus on early intervention with adults at risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
Health checks have been offered by the Dufftown Well North project nurses to people in the Dufftown Medical Practice for over a year now. The checks cover monitoring blood pressure, checking BMI, height and weight measurements and cholesterol levels, giving lifestyle advice to those who need it and directing them to services and facilities in Dufftown and the surrounding area to help them maintain and improve their health. |
