![]() The Hospital Chaplains seek to provide spiritual care for all:
Hospital Chaplains will be pleased to visit you during your stay in Hospital and help you all you can. Please tell the staff if you or your family would like to see one of the Chaplains. There is always a chaplain on call day or night and they can be contacted via the hospital switchboard. You need JavaScript enabled to view it Father Vincent McQuaid looks after ward 6 Hospital ChapelThis sanctuary is situated opposite ward 8 in Dr Grays and is open 24/7 (24 hours a day / 7 days a week). This area is available for use by patients and staff and people of all faiths are invited to use the room. Services on Sundays are held in the hospital chapel at 11am each Sunday. This is an interdenominational service of Christian worship. If you wish to attend, please tell a member of staff who will ensure that you are escorted to the area. All welcome. Services of Reflection and Remembrance These are held twice a year in Dr Gray's hospital. These services are specifically for parents, friends and extended family who have suffered loss during early pregnancy but any one can attend. We hold these services in the Hospital Chapel at Dr Grays at 7pm. This service lasts approximately 30 minutes.
A cairn of pebbles is made prior to the service. Each pebble is engraved with hope, love or peace on oneside and the gaelic translation on the other. After the service, you are invited to take one of the pebbles from the cairn home as a memorial.
Memorial Stone New Elgin Cemetery
This stone was erected and dedicated by Bishop Mark Strange in September 08 as a memorial for parents and other visitors affected by loss in early pregnancy. There are two dedicated granite benches for quiet contemplation. Flowers may be left in the vases beside the memorial. A service is held at the cemetery on the 2nd Sunday in September at 3pm. This lasts approximately 20 minutes regardless of weather.
